It is really a new and refreshing experience for any first timers. It is a tradition in Norway to take a dip into the ocean first before going into the sauna. People may be skeptical about it at first because they fear that it might be dangerous. For those who are a bit scared like me, fear not! There are steps going down into the ocean where one can just sit on the steps to dip for a few seconds before going back into the sauna. In winter, big waves were crashing onto the shore blanketed with a layer of snow. It is a picturesque beach where one can take instagramable pictures!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-contrast-color has-text-color has-link-color has-heading-font-family wp-elements-85173d3c31b6ab51fcceec0ca041834c\" style=\"font-size:clamp(0.875rem, 0.875rem + ((1vw - 0.2rem) * 0.708), 1.3rem);font-style:normal;font-weight:500;text-decoration:none\">You can take a leisure walk to Uttakleiv as seen in the picture below. The walk is about 4 km and it takes about 0.5-1 hour. However, when we went there during winter, the winds were too strong and we were freezing. It also increases the chance to see the northern lights as it is completely dark at night, far away from any light pollution. In the morning, we were also greeted by an ethereal sunrise. The bridge is a scenic viewpoint that allows one to capture a shot of one of the iconic Hamnoy background wallpapers of Microsoft. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-contrast-color has-text-color has-link-color has-heading-font-family wp-elements-fd2296f15aab72962ec804656b0c1815\" style=\"font-size:clamp(0.875rem, 0.875rem + ((1vw - 0.2rem) * 0.708), 1.3rem);font-style:normal;font-weight:500;text-decoration:none\">As one crosses the bridge to the other end, you can also view the scenery in the surrounding area. There is a parking area at the viewpoint area. It is a fairly easy walk up to the viewpoint although in winter, there are some parts of the pathway that are icy, so do be careful! We went there when the sun was setting so we were able to see the sky painted in orange and yellow and the sea spanning across the horizon. This is because the place is pitch black at night, free from any light pollution. Indeed, when we went back at night, we were able to spot the aurora hiding just behind the mountain. However, do note that it is really dark at night so when walking up to the viewpoint, do be careful of the icy parts of the pathway. I suggest bringing a torchlight with you. The soup was delicious and comforting as it warms up the body especially during winter. The soup contains salmon, cod fish and shrimps where just a bowl of soup is enough to fill our stomachs. Another dish we tried is stated as \u201cWinnie The Pooh\u201d in the menu. The kitchen had exquisite culinary gadgets and kitchen tools as well. There are two bedrooms \u2014 the kid\u2019s room and the master bedroom. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-contrast-color has-text-color has-link-color has-heading-font-family wp-elements-b509dba8f5a21720b7aea980c5325d02\" style=\"font-size:clamp(0.875rem, 0.875rem + ((1vw - 0.2rem) * 0.708), 1.3rem);font-style:normal;font-weight:500;text-decoration:none\">The highlight of the Rorbu was being able to witness the strongest aurora of the entire trip just right outside the balcony. We were able to take some spectacular shots of the northern lights that were surrounded by a sea of twinkling stars in the sky. Although there was no TV, we were able to occupy ourselves by taking pictures of the aurora from different angles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-contrast-color has-text-color has-link-color has-heading-font-family wp-elements-4c6653e30302891c35ee43a1143ae850\" style=\"font-size:clamp(0.875rem, 0.875rem + ((1vw - 0.2rem) * 0.708), 1.3rem);font-style:normal;font-weight:500;text-decoration:none\">I highly recommend staying here if you are planning to see the northern lights. This is because it is really dark at night and the Rorbu is just right next to the sea. Hence, it provides a better opportunity to see the aurora clearer.
